Klassen, J. (2012). This is not my Hat. Boston, MA: Candlewick. This is not my Hat is a picture book that provides suspense as a little fish swims away from the owner of the hat.  The little fish acknowledges it isn't his hat but is sure that he will get away with taking the hat. He says the big fish was asleep when he took it, so he won't know who took it.  The illustrations tell another story to the cocky little fish's narrative. It shows us the big fish waking up seeing the little fish swimming away.  The little fish continues that even if the big fish wakes up and goes to look for it that no one will tell where he went, the illustrations again shows the reader that the little fish is wrong. A crab points the big fish towards way the little fish went and is voiceless on the pages he is on.  Little fish says he will hide where no one will find him soon the big fish follows.  After a double page spread with no text or action just an illustration of big and tall plants, the big fish emerges wearing the hat.  Jon Klassen is the author-illustrator of this book, he is an award winner and on the New York Times bestsellers list.  Klassen provides an easy to read text that is enjoyable for all the read.  It and other books in the Hat series provides repeated text and easy to decode words,  Klassen won the 2013 Caldecott Medal for this book, he is also an illustrator. He made a short animated film with Dan Rodriques and work on Kung Fu Panda and Coraline.
