Knowing the award winners presented from this chapter helps me as a librarian and as a teacher refers students and teachers to outstanding books. It also helps me in developing my collection and displays within the library. I enjoyed learning the backgrounds of who the awards were based on in particular Margaret Edwards that is Texas raised. We as librarians have wonderful examples that embodied pushing library services to a new level. I have used several of these lists in developing my elementary library collection, I find that the database on YALSA is valuable for teachers and students. I will use the databases within my website as a librarian and saved favorites with the computer used in the library. I will create an electronic and print form of these lists and award to provide easy access to my students, teachers and families.
